Haute Couture Exhibition at FIDM

By Gianfranco Ferré for Dior.

Now and then we all enjoy a taste for sophisticated style, and The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, California, recognizes that. The current exhibit at the The FIDM Museum & Galleries, “High Style: Betsy Bloomingdale and the Haute Couture,” will be on display through December 13.

International Best-Dressed Hall of Fame icon Betsy Bloomingdale has selected some of her favorite designers to be featured in the exhibit. The displayed pieces capture the life of Betsy Bloomingdale while also reflecting her personal style.

FIDM has received numerous haute couture donations over the past 30 years—60 of which will be showcased in the exhibit—from esteemed designers such as Givenchy, Oscar de la Renta, and Valentino. The exhibit allows those of us interested in fashion, fabric, and everything in between to experience the world of haute couture. We can also enjoy the life of Bloomingdale through photographs and videos that show her at numerous events mingling with famous international designers and other dignitaries.

The exhibition, which is free to the public, runs through December 13, 2009, so there’s not much time to take advantage of this wonderful event. It’s a great opportunity to glimpse into the world of haute couture, learn about many famous designers, and unleash your inner fashionista!

If you’ve already had the opportunity to visit the exhibit, please let us know what you liked best by leaving a comment.
