OH I LOVE THIS!! My little girl is 14 now, so I have moved onto sewing for my adorable nieces. I have two nieces who are truly girly girls. They love fun, whimsical fabrics and get excited EVERY TIME I bring them something new. I love to create for my nieces, using all the new fabrics and patterns that are available. Everyday is different for these little girls, some days they are princesses and need the frilly dresses and the next day they are "ladies" having tea and need the classics!! This book would give me the best of all worlds!!! I would love to own it, (and my nieces, Lilly and Gabby would love it too!!)!!

  2. raevenfea | | #2

I would love this. I have six nieces ranging from 3-12, and I love sewing for them. Two of them also have a great time sewing with me when we visit, and I’d love to have inspiration on projects we can do together.

And maybe for my own little girl in a few years.

  3. MisplacedHawaiian | | #3

My twin nieces look so much a like that they wear different colored earrings so that everyone can tell them apart. My sister dresses them in coordinating outfits rather than matching ones just to help everyone out. I'd love to sew up some cute girly things for them

This book would be so helpful in my sewing for grand daughters. Both the girls are feminine oriented and I am continually on the prowl looking for ideas and buying used and dressing it up, etc., anything to stay within a budget and still see the look of delight in their faces when they see the newest creation from grandma. The older of the 2 is now trying sewing for herself and I hope to afford her a basic sewing machine for her birthday in a few months. I am so delighted with both of them, they love homemade items and are yearning to develop skills. This book could be such a blessed addition to our family, thank you for the opportunity to have such an interesting book.

I am raising my two grand-daughters and love to craft and sew for them. They are so very different in looks and character that it is fun to find VERY different things to make for them.

Looks like this would be great for my studio. I sew for my twin granddaughterssince they were babies! Twice the fun. they are now 5 years old and are at the perfect age to sew for. this would also be great to sew for my great granddaughters, age 3 and 6 months. I hope to teach them all to sew when they are a little older. Thanks for the good work and keep the ideas coming. Mary D. in Texas

I would love to have a book like this for my 3 daughters. Over the past 6 months, I've been teaching them how to sew. The younger two (twins) are really enjoying it. This would be a great book to add to their sewing library.

  13. SewRuff | | #13

My only granddaughter is almost 2 1/2 years old and already a little 'fashionista'! This looks like the perfect book to help grandma make her some of those trendy fashions that she and her mother would love.

  14. Ahliah | | #14

The girl(s) we sew for are EVERY girl at the Dress a Girl Around the World project. To date we've delivered 14,642 dresses to 35 countries, including the United States and people from 42 States, Canada, Uganda, and Hong Kong continue to make dresses. Together we really will dress the girls around the world. http://www.dressagirlaroundtheworld.com/
And we could sure use more people helping!

  15. Nadiyah | | #15

My little girl love to have something handmade. She likes wearing dress that i sewed for her. This book would be a wonderful birthday present for her on march.

  16. MumsieB | | #16

Would love to win this amazing book to sew for my sweet 10-year-old girl! You see, I am a GrandMum to 3 little boys; happily I sew for them, but truly, ruffles and girlie design are my favorites. So, I have "adopted" a beautiful neighborhood girl, and together we sew to our hearts' content. She is becoming a creative sewing genius, and markets her designs under the label "Miss Bliss." I feel privileged to be her fashion consultant and wardrobe maker; so, please, know we will put this Girls Fashion Book to magnificent use. Thank you!

  17. Widdle | | #17

The little girl I sew for? My new baby daughter, Dawn, born this past August. I have made her numerous items, dresses, onesies, nursery decor and stuffed toys. What a thrill it is to see her wearing unique items, but the best is when she hugs her favorite mommy made stuffies. That is when my heart soars.

  18. robi0622 | | #18

I would love to win this book for my daughter Molly, she is a 6th grade teacher of social studies in New Orleans, she started a sewing club after school for anyone interested in learning how to sew. She has been able to get a lot of fabric and other supplies from "freecycle" and "Craig's List", as a teacher she has to provide for her club. She does not charge the students. So this would be a wonderful addition! She loves sewing from vintage patterns you can see her projects here: http://mollysews.blogspot.com/.Thanks!

I sew for my little girl of 13. And she sews for herself. I am a 4-H sewing leader and this book is sure to have lots of great ideas for both my daughter and all of the other little and big girls in our club!

  20. Helenm61 | | #20

I would love to win this for a very special new granddaughter that has come into my life via a marriage of my daughter and her dad. She is 8 years old and loves to
design and sew outfits. I am having a wonderful time with her, buying her all kinds of sewing supplies and giving her parts of my stash and scraps.

  21. Marguerite | | #21

My granddaughter, Ariana (age 2 at the time), toddled over to me while I was sewing a rip on her Dad's Army pants. (I keep an extra machine at their house.) She said, "Up, up." I put her on my lap so she could see what I was doing. We've been sewing together ever since then.

She's five now and told me, "Gran, I love to sew." I wanted to die from the joy. I didn't have a daughter to teach, but this is way better. Just lately, she learned to stop, start, and turn a corner. And if this isn't enough to thrill a grandmother, now she wants to learn to crochet. I think the book would be great for both of us.

    Be still, my heart!

I love sewing for my precious 8 year old daughter. Furthermore, she loves it when I sew for her. She and I love to go fabric shopping together. And to look for patterns too! She is most certainly a girly girl and would love me to make the projects in this books for her. Thank you!

  23. dpete | | #23

I love to sew for my daughter who is 6 and loves all things "girly". She is such a little sweetheart that loves ruffles and ribbons and skirts that twirl! She loves to pick out the fabric and patterns for her "most special" clothes! This book would be fantastic for us!

My tiny family has only one little girl, my niece who is 3. I have not sewn anything for her yet but would love to. She loves animals and the color purple. I am clueless about sewing for children so this book would be a great help!

  25. sewmodest | | #25

After 17 years and 4 boys, I finally got a 2nd little girl. A sweet little redhead! I had to wait so long to sew ruffles and ribbons and ALL things girly, so I try to do it every chance I get. (let's face it with 4 big brothers, we have to be extra girly, even if we're playing action figures!)

My Granddaughter Emy! Right now she's 6 months old but I'm really looking forward to sewing for her. So far I've made bibs, a quilt and a pillow for her room but it will be fun to make her some dresses and clothes. I've already told her Mom I want to teach her to sew when she gets older. Mom is on board with that!

  28. Ogden | | #28

My daughter, her husband and my three grandchildren, including my granddaughter, Annika, who is almost 7, live in Germany. The last time I saw them, a year ago Christmas, I began to teach Annika how to sew. We created a simple pattern and dress for her American Girl Doll. Recently, she asked my daughter whether they were going to vacation at Nana and Poppy's house this year. My daughter told her yes they are planning a visit in June, but asked why do you want to know. Annika replied, "I want to learn how to sew." I suggested to my daughter that I would come up with something fun, like a stuffed animal. My daughter replied, "Yes, a stuffed animal would be fine, but she's wants to learn how to make her own clothes!" This book would definitely be a great tool to have to ensure success.

I would love to get this book for my little girl. She is 10 and will be 11 on Valentine's Day. I have always been a sewer, but my daughter is just learning. I have taught a couple of classes to her and her friends and it has been great fun. It is wonderful to see the excitment of being able to create something of fabric. I'm planning on continuing to teach and sew with my daughter and her friends.

This book looks adorable! I am 5th generation seamstress in my family and remember my mother and grandmothers sewing for me when I was little, and I made my daughters and nieces clothes (many with matching clothes for Barbie and American Girl). My daughter only sews out of necessity, so now I get all the fun for my grandchildren and greats nieces! Love new ideas...hopefully I can get the little ones interested and carry on this wonderful family tradition!!

My small model is 18 months old and loves piano.Mikala-She is first grandchild of my girlfriend. I am looking for structured as well as free form clothes to make for her and all the grandchildren to follow in the next generation. I want her to feel good in them and be creative using them and learning from them and enjoying life. The bookcover colours are inspiring for someone downunder in pouring rain and late summer. As they grow up I think they may learn to love it too when it gets a special place in the sewing box.

I used to sew for my girls and it's so much fun! I remember in particular making absolutely gorgeous taffeta dresses for them from a Vogue pattern with my Mom when they were 7 & 8 years old. We still have them!

I am in the midst of a sewing room reno and can't wait to sew for the dear daughter of our friends, who is 3.

Mostly I make quilts now, but am looking forward to sewing her a sweet dress for summer and this book sounds perfect.

I have 2 little girls I love to sew for, ages 4 and 8. I love to sew for them because they seem to really appreciate it. They want to wear garments before I'm finished and run away to their playroom during fittings. But the hugs, kisses and 'Thank you, mommy' are my inspiration for sewing little girl things.

Let me tell you about the love of my life, my niece, Evey! She is 4 and a half years old, going on 22, intelligent, of course, and sensitive, caring and an absolute pistol. She was born to manage! She already has a fashion sense and enjoys pretty little girl things, but also loves her "run and play" clothes! Her most famous appearances are at Halloween where she has been a pumpkin, a chocolate chip cookie and most recently, Jessie, the cowgirl. All of her costumes handmade by my talented sister. Unfortunately, Evey lives many miles and hours from me and I am unable to see her as often as I'd like. We three would love to have this book to enjoy together on our next visit. Thank you!

Five are girly girls and I have been stashing for years so I can play to my hearts content. I sew for my granddaughter and am loving it. I had 5 sons and made a lot of pants and shirts, then 3 grandsons and now I have a beautiful little girl who likes pretty dresses. This Christmas I bought her an 18 inch doll and now am learning the pleasures of making doll clothes to match! Little girls are nice to have around when you are surrounded by so many males!

  64. LucyJane | | #64

If there is a piece of cloth, a needle, sewing machine, sissors, serger or whatever I love to fix, mend, or creae something. My ten year old grand nephew drew an amazing christmas card of a cement dog that sits on his grandmother's front porch. His aunt created an amazing christmas card out of this drawing for his grandmother to use at christmas time as cards.
I was soooooo blown away I decided to take it a step further.
I created a fabric copy of the dog on the computer and built a country french (fabric) pillow around the picture. My sister in law called me and was sooooooooo thrilled that she asked me to make four more. Lucky for me I had a big bag of country french scraps from a LA store which is no longer in business.

I also have five granddaughters including almost four year old twins girls. Last year they had a Scouby Doo birthday party.
I created Velma and ? costumes. Believe it or not one tries
to punch into the purple dress and the other one wears the
orange sweater even though the sleeves are too short. Makes my heart flutter..............

I love to sew for my two granddaughters and two grandsons-- but since two live in Texas and I am in MI, there is only one granddaughter here to 'sew with' me. Hailey is eight years old and her brother,Zach, is also eight-- twins, of course. They lost their mom to an unexpected death last August. Their Dad, my son, has applied for their custody but the MI judge wants to evaluate the decision, over time, since the children have always lived in MI. Because of this, I have a temporary shared custody with their aunt.

Hailey and Zach spend three weekends a month, and half their holidays, with me and my husband. Their Dad does his best to be here at least one weekend a month.

Hailey wants to learn to sew with me and she just completed her first project, a pair of warm fleece slippers. Since I first learned to sew when I lived with my grandmother, at about that age, I love being able to share this learning with Hailey!

My wonderful granddaughter Seren will be two on Thursday (10th February). She began her life with a brain trauma and for a very long time we were very worried about her future. However, thanks to the wonderful professionals at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children, her therapist, her pediatrician, and most especially her mum and her two aunties, our Seren has blossomed into a beautiful child. Her most recent developmental assessment indicates she will now have no problems attending a regular school so we are truly blessed and give thanks every day.

Seren is a Welsh name meaning "Little Star" and she is exactly that - the light of my life.

Seren is the reason for me entering this contest. I want to create pretty, fun, and special things to adorn her world... "A Girl's World."

    Thank you.

As I write this, my oldest granddaughter turns 11 years old- she definitely is in that early tween stage and is a joy to sew for. My youngest granddaughter is 4 years old and very much a ruffles/bows type of girl. This book would be most helpful in sewing garments for both of them. Love this Threads site and really love my paper subscription that I get at home. Both give me many hours of readings and inspiration. I would be very happy to win this book.

  75. missmartha | | #75

I sew for my 4 year old great-granddaughter! She loves to learn how to do things. One of those painting shows came on TV and I thought she wouldn't be interested, but she said "He's teaching me how to paint!" She has her own shovel and helps me in the garden, well -- sometimes holes get dug in funny places! She likes to look through my patterns and pattern magazines to find outfits she would like me to make, and wants one for her dolly, too.

She may be too little to operate the sewing machine yet, but she'll be able to help with pattern placement and cutting out, and after I'm gone the book will be a reminder of "Grammy."

Thanks for the opportunity to win ...

  78. dianepatricia | | #78

Every since I was 8 I have been sewing. I am one of 6 sisters and the only one who sews. I sew for nieces, great nieces, daughter, and son. I love creating and embellishing, and taking something normal and turning it into a work of art. Rowynn was born 8 months ago to my wonderful son and is wife. She never cries?! Well maybe once or twice, but if I had children like her I would have had more. Her laugh is contagious, her smile brings warmth to my heart, and when you hold her, you know that you and her will be friends forever. To see her with my son, brings tears to my eyes. Daddy's little girl. She will sit with him for long stretches of time just cooing and snuggling. She is very blessed to have a dad like Andrew. He is definitely a hands-on dad and would, if he could, spend all of his time with his girl. Sewing for her...oh yes...lots and lots of sewing. It is one way that I can play a part in her life while not living close to them. "Look mom - another package from Lady Di (me)", she's made me something else!

  79. Grandmotherof3 | | #79

My Granddaughter and I share a love of sewing and embroidery.
She is 8 years old and for her Christmas present in December
she received her own sewing machine. She loves all things
handmade and I know we would share many wonderful moments
looking at this delicious book and deciding which project to
create for her. She is a little girl with a very large heart
and I know with her creative talents she will make a difference
in the world even in small parts. Isn't that what we all
should want to do? Handmade is best forget the rest!

Being the mother of 3 boys, I was most delighted when the "grand-girls" arrived. Although they live in another state, I love surprising them with "girl things". This book seems like just what is needed to add to my library. They have just remodeled the house and now each (3) have their own rooms. What fun it will be to help them decorate with ideas from this wonderful book.

I have sewn for all 5 of my grandchildren, 4 girls and a boy.
My youngest, who is 7 years old and homeschooled, is very interested in learning to sew. This book would be a great asset to our lessons! Thanks!

I have 2 daughters,6 granddaughters and many nieces. I started sewing Christening gowns and now we are up to prom gowns! And a few are even interested in learning to sew themselves. I would love a copy of this book!

My about to be 4 yr old daughter is a vintage era throwback! She loves the dress styles from the 50s/early 60s, and they look super on her. Hence, we have started doing alot of sewing for her as she is tall, but broad shouldered and very thin- we do alot of tailoring on store bought items! We'd love to win this book!

    Thanks for the giveaway

I would love to win this book! Granddaughter Ella was born two days ago - February 6 - and this would be perfect for future sewing projects!

  90. DoubleH | | #90

I sew for my Daughter. She will be nine next week. She loves going to the fabric store to pick out her own fabric and then to pick a pattern. I have been sewing for her since she was born - making clothes, costumes, and random little crafty projects. She is finding her own crafty bug ad wants my "old" machine since I just got a new one for myself. This would be a wonderful book for her! Thank you for the opportunity to win it!

  91. Best_Friend | | #91

I don't have children or grandchildren, however I mentor a 7 year old girl in an after school program. She is a real girly-girl whose favorite books are the "Fancy Nancy" books where she ooh's and aah's over the clothes and shoes in the books. I'd love to have her pick out some projects in the book to enrich her life with projects.

I'm enjoying having a granddaughter now to sew for, after sewing for two sons. This sounds like a fun book. Thanks for the chance to win it!

My 7 year old twin granddaughters are the lights of my life. They love all the things I sew for them and now I have the pleasure of teaching them to sew too. They love looking through my patterns and sewing books so this book would be a fabulous additon to my sewing library.

After sewing for four grandsons interested only in sports, super heros, monsters and dinosaurs, my desire to sew began to wane. But, then along came my now toddler-age granddaughter and the love for sewing has returned. This little girly girl keeps me busy with a new world of pinks, hearts, flowers, lace, ribbons and dolls. Thanks for writing this book.

  95. NelsonMuntz | | #95

My grandaughter lives in another state & sewing is one way of keeping connected. She is 2-1/2 and a very girly girl & loves everything that is "pink" so this book would be an inspiration to create things that she will love.

  96. martha_moser | | #96

I would love to use the book to work with my 12-year-old student who is bright, bright, Bright. What a challenge keeping up with her. To keep her interested, I teach her sewing as if we were learning industrial engineering.

I have a great niece! When my niece Maja married Jon, she became a step-mom to Julie. I have started sewing for Julie who loves pinks and purples, monkeys and firetrucks (Her daddy is a fireman!) Next, I will work on Mommy/Daughter aprons, plus a small matching apron for the new baby Maja is expecting! It's a beautiful family!!

My first granddaughter was born on November 4th. I am so excited about sewing for Paisley! She is the first girl born in our family and is adorable! When she gets a little bigger...I'll teach her how to sew. I can just picture us working side by side. This book could be the beginning of our new careers!

  99. CelticDiva | | #99

My own "little girl" is now almost 18 ;-)
But now I get to sew for my little niece, Sophia, who loves to dress like a little lady, even while she's tearing up the daycare centre. She can at least look sweet while sitting on the "time-out" chair (or penalty box, as her brother calls it).
This looks like a wonderful book! Thanks for sharing it!

I would love to win this book for my granddaughter who is ten and just received a sewing machine for Christmas. Since I don't live near her it would be great to have a book showing her instructions as if grandma was by her side.

I would love to win this book. Five months ago I had my first grandchild, a girl. But she lives across the country from me, so sewing for her is how I show her how much I love her. This book will give me ideas for years to come to send her Grammy's love.

I have three sons that I have sewn for since they were born. But, I am now enjoying sewing for my four year old neice, Harper and her baby doll Emma. When I make Harper (or her brother Leo) an outfit I always make a matching one for Emma. I would love to have this book for more ideas and projects!

My 4 year old granddaughter is just entering the world of fabric and all its joys. While her mom sews, she spends hours arranging spools of thread, sewing scraps of fabric together in ever decreasing stitches and folding and refolding fabric from the stash. It's wonderful to see her get such pleasure from handling the stuff of sewing.

  111. JG_2 | | #111

I would love to win the book. I have four granddaughters. I sew for the 2 year old and the 7 year old. I need help knowing what to sew for my two "tween" granddaughters. All four have such different personalities, but each one is special: one is old beyond her years, one is a "girly girl", another a tomboy, and one is like a little sponge, absorbing everything in life. I love them dearly and treasure the chance to make things for them, one of my joys in life.

  112. Mamajay5 | | #112

I gave my six year old granddaughter a sewing machine for Christmas this year and she is just learning to sew. She has a million and one questions about everything and a book that teaches sewing for her age would be wonderful.
Helping her learn is my project because her mother does not sew and has no interest in learning. It gives us some great together time together and since I ran a shop for a while, I have cabinets full of fabric, threads and findings that are just begging to be used.
I wish everyone could win, and we could all enjoy the book. Good luck to everyone.

I would love to win this book.I would use it with the Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida where I am a volunteer sewing instructor available to 12 Englewood troops.

This year Brownie Troop 565 earned "Try It" badges lacing, sewing on buttons and making the "Good Turn Mouse". The Cadettes's SEW GLAM project was pillows and cat quilts for the local shelter.

I would use "Girls World" to teach the girls to sew and instill a life long love in their hearts, as sewing is in mine.

Our fantastic middle granddaughter [then 8 years old] asked for a toy sewing machine for her Christmas 2009 present. Because we believe in good tools and wanted her to start her sewing career off well, we bought her a good Brother machine. Within four hours she had mastered threading and loading the bobbin and all 33 stitches! She surprised us with a pair of pillowcases she designed and made and, best of all, wrote "I love you" by freehand moving a decorative stitch on a fleece book mark for me as a thank you. We've taken her to Mood Fabrics and M & J Trim in New York when we were there for a wedding, and she was in awe. Since then her sewing has continued to advance, and we share this passion. Her birthday present last year was an all-day sewing class one-on-one with an excellent teacher, and she finished her first garments after that. When we gave her $50 of fabric at a local store, she bought pieces to make little bags for every member of her family, and she has been teaching her best friend to sew as well. When she liked the look of fingerless gloves, she figured out how to make her own and did. I am so proud of her and continue to look for ways to support her burgeoning passion. I know she would love this book!

Like most other readers, I have children and grandchildren I sew for. My youngest granddaughter is 10-years-old. She has shown some interest in sewing and I would love to have this book on hand to inspire here to develop this interest. Unfortunately, sewing is not an art taught in schools as it was when I was a girl. Grandmothers, mothers, aunts, close friends can inspire this art in the young ones we come close to.

  120. Crafty65 | | #120

I have 9 grandchildren and I sew, craft, knit and crochet for all of them. They are ages 1 to 18 and they love to get specially crafted or sewn gifts. I am also teaching all of the girls to crochet when we are with them. Some of them catch on faster than others but they are all excited about learning to do something that they can wear or put on their dolls. I am always looking for new ideas to make things for them and this book (which I hope I win) sounds like it would be full of good ideas.

In four years I received the gift of four grandchildren.....three of whom are girls! So all I make is made in triplicate. They all love Gramma's handmade dolls but mostly loved un-dressing them. But they are now reaching the age where the clothes are as important as the dolls. And the oldest two are showing an interest in making doll clothing themselves, so we would ALL get great enjoyment in this book.

We had our first sewing lesson this past Thanksgiving!! My 3-year-old grandson and his five-year-old sister made blankets for their little stuffed animals. I could not believe how well they did with the project. I cut out the rectangles for them. They did simple long stitches and left about a 2" opening - turned each blanket inside out and I stitched up the opening for them.
Such fun! This book would be perfect for future lessons!!!!

I love to sew FOR the little girls in my life - nieces, friend's daughters, little girls from church - and always the same thing - sundresses. Something about little girls in floaty, summery colors; it's my favorite thing to sew. More importantly, I love to sew WITH my niece, Ali. She's learned to use the machine to sew a simple quilt pattern we devised together, and I hope this summer to start her on simple clothing patterns. I didn't have a daughter, so it's a wonderful gift to be able to pass on my grandmother's lessons to Ali.

I lucky enough to have two little girls to sew for - my adorable granddaughters - so this book would make a wonderful addition to my sewing library. I sewed always for my three daughters and now they are grown and I have three granddaughters and two grandsons. I make their Halloween costumes every year. My favorite one was when the oldest at about 4 years old wanted to be a tree. I had to really use my ingenuity to come up with that one! Last year the two boys had a firemans jacket and the little one went as a dalmation. My favorte kind of sewing has always been sewing for the kids. I am glad to have more to sew for!

As of last summer, I was sewing for my foster sister - so much fun since my next youngest sister is 11 and after that I only have brothers. She's moved on now, though, so I sew for other foster children, in other families, as well as the daughters of friends. I'm also looking forward to having my own little girls to sew for in the future!

This looks like a book filled with delightful projects for my sweet Little Precious! I have one granddaughter for whom I have sewn since she was about 6 months old. She is now about to be six, and I can just imagine the fun I would have trying some of these projects. My sweet MK loves her MiMi-mades....in fact she prefers them to all her other clothes. She is a girly girl and enjoys the fun I try to add with embellishment both in the form of coordinating fabrics and machine embroidered appliques, monograms and designs. It becomes a bit harder to sew to please our sweeties' tastes as they get a bit older, but I intend to "grow up my sewing" right along with her!

I have two grand daughters that I sew for. Unlike my daughter who was a tom boy, my grand daughters LOVE to dress up! It's so much fun to sew for them and to see the delight in their eyes when they have something new to wear. The oldest, Hannah (6), just recently asked me, "Grandma Sharon, will you teach me to sew?" I'm sure she would enjoy making projects from this book with me (and I might enjoy it just a little bit too. :) )

  149. Jillsews | | #149

I sew for my 7 year old, who picks the fabric and is fearless about color and design. My favorites by far, are the two layer fleece coat in orange and watermelon pink and the adorable circle skirt I made to match a sweater her Grandma handknit for her. Anything that she has outgrown gets passed on to our friend's daughter, who is 4. Our friend already has her eyes on several pieces that Catie is on the verge of not fitting in but isn't ready to relinquish! I learned to sew at 11 and I already have a machine for my daughter for whenever she's ready to learn. (A real machine - not one of the cheap plastic ones that she got frustrated with!) This book would be the icing on the cake!

Although my parents loved that I would sew for the family(as it saved them money), they discouraged me from pursuing any kind of a career that had to do with sewing. So whenever I see a young one who displays a desire to sew I try to encourage them to pursue it to the degree that it makes them happy. Although I have found many that have shown a desire---none has shown a willingness to follow through like my neighbors daughter. Our local sewing store has kids classes---for kids 8 and older. The day my neighbors daughter turned 8, she was at my front door asking for her lessons! Since then she has made 3 quilts and various other projects. (She turned 9 in December)I am looking forward to her trying garment sewing as it is my passion---this book would be a great start for her as we planned to start during spring break.
Thank you so much for being part of the love of sewing movement!!! :-)

Thank you for another chance to share my love of sewing with my loving girls.

I finally have a grandniece to design all those girley, frilly projects for. At 2 years old, Alexa Jayne already has firm opinion's about her fabric and style preferences of whimsey and fairy tales. I am following in my mother's footsteps of one of a kind Halloween and dress up costumes, the start of a major diva dolls' wardrobe, and continue building my own personal clothing stash. I'm crossing my fingers' and hope to win your book.

I make them some dress, pants, little purses, swiming suit, costumes and decorations for their rooms. Not only my granddaughters appreciate that but the mothers too.
I appreciate all books I can find with pattern to give me some new insperation. This book would be a great addition to my librairy and would be helpful.
    Thank you!

Having learned how to sew when I was 5, I appreciate the value of knowing this skill and try to pass it on any way that I can. My niece who is now 21 was my first pupil. Sewing for kids has always been a great joy to me and I have dozens of pictures of my "creations" including clothes, pillows, quilts, dolls and doll clothes...even a denim and leather jacket for hubby with an elk sihouette on the back (his hunting buddies are so jealous!). This book would be a wonderful addition to my repertoire and a great tool for teaching. You have a difficult choice with so many really great comments to pick from! I can make it easy for you....just pick mine :D

I had three boys, but then all my sister's had girls! I sew for all my nieces and great-nieces. I have 14 nieces and 1 great niece and sew for all 14 of them. I have 7 that are younger and love the twirly skirts and all the older ones love me making prom dresses and everyday fashions for them. I love sewing for all of them, the problem is, I never have enough time to sew for myself, lol.

Sewing is been my passion even since I was  five..... I still remember my mom making a dress for me .. I tried to help her but I was not tall enough to reach the pendals ( old domestics one had cable and motor was too expensive to afford) and today I am happy I was able to fulfil my wish, I have made garments for my lovely mom and sisters, brother and my darling pop...
And finally, the time has come to make some clothes for my little one ... I can feel her moves and gentle kicks inside my stomach as I type this text..... Can't imagine i will be a new mom soon . I am sure this book will help me to sew beautiful things for my joy of bundle. Life is just like a wheel and every one have to experience every moments/ phase. I saw my mom with this skill , she gifted it to me and now I have my chance to pass it onto my daughter. Enjoy sewing my fellow friends and let this craft live within our families.

My little girl is now 17! I have 3 grandnieces under 5 though. It sounds like a keeper for my grandchildren.

There's a little girl at church who thinks I'm here "best friend!" (just because I bring her stickers, & coloring books, & make her things!) She'll be 4 next month! :) My 2 adult daughters think it's cute the way she'll "find" me at church! & if I'm not at church, she'll find one of them & ask where I am!

  170. Sewitall2 | | #170

I remember watching my grandmother sew on her treadle machine and was always intrigued by how she would make something beautiful out of a piece of cloth. She never used patterns, just instinct. I taught myself to sew when my mother said it would be best to learn from a book then I could form my own way of sewing. So I learned couture techniques that I could apply to any sewing project.
I sewed for my daughters as they grew up and now I have a granddaughter and a grandson for whom I sew. Although my granddaughter lives in the country, she loves dressy clothes; this four year old is into her "princess" craze! She definitely has a flair for pretty clothes! I love to see her little face light up when she is astonished to see a cape when 30 minutes before there was only fabric! It's always a joy to make something that I make that my granddaughter, grandson, and daughters like and use!
I am looking forward to this new book and all the ideas it has to offer!

I love to sew for all my granddaughters but my favorite has to be the oldest. She will turn 6 in April. She is the cutest strawberry blond little girl and she loves everything I make for her. Last Christmas I got her a little sewing machine. She has had so much unlearning how to sew. She has been trying to teach her little sister how to sew and she even showed a friend how to sew. I find this the most exciting part. I would love getting this book and sharing it with her.

  172. sarahnormanGA | | #172

This would be a fantastic book to have in my collection. I can see that it would bring me a lot of inspiration just as Jennifer Paganelli does with all her fabrics and patterns.

  173. Kate_13 | | #173

What a wonderfuly girly book. I love sewing dresses for all my friends little girls - lots of frills and soft pinks. I think I'm a bit of a 'girly girl' myself.

  174. maggiesmom | | #174

After having three boys, I was so surprised when my daughter was born. I loved to sew and made some of my boys' clothes, but to be able to finally sew girl-y clothes was so much fun. That was twenty years ago. Now when my daughter wants something made she makes it herself. With all three of my boys married, I've started the second generation of sewing for little girls. I have a granddaughter who is going to be three this month and another granddaughter coming in June. I'm looking forward to sewing for many more years.

  175. phrances | | #175

I have been teaching my granddaughter aged 7 and her friends how to sew doll's clothes using cast off items from my closet. It has been fascinating to see the girls struggle with the needle and thread at first and after concentrating become so excited with the work they have done. I've become very popular with her friend's mothers who now have given me lots of their own fabrics and the collection is growing.

I started sewing just after college over a summer when unemployed I lived with my parents until I returned to graduate school. After graduating I quit sewing except for the odd curtain or Halloween costume. After the arrival of my daughter, I wanted to dress her in cute, well made clothes but found the clothes that I was drawn to were European and way out of my budget; $40 for a simple corduroy dress was too much so I returned to sewing. I really enjoy sewing for my now 7 year old daughter and she loves it too. She gets to pick the style, the color and details. She loves the planning and relishes in the reactions she gets when wearing the unique clothing that I sew for her and enjoys telling people that "my mom made it for me." She may not always appreciate what I sew for her, but at this time she loves it and I love sewing for her. I believe it also gives her a pride in being unique and doing things for herself.

I learned to sew from my mom and then in High School really did it. The HomeEc teacher was amazing. She had us sewing wool walking suits, strapless formals, and experimenting with different fabrics.

We did nt have girls so I sewed for our sons. We now have grandaughters and to sew for them is fun and hopefully teach them to sew.

  178. creativeclarity | | #178

My 6-year-old granddaughter is eager to learn to sew, and we could sure have a great time together with this book! Our relationship is so special, and I love to find things to make it even better.

That would be a great book to have. I try and make things for my boyfriend's granddaughters, ages 2 and 5. It's sew fun. It would be great to come up with some new ideas.

I love to sew for my granddaughter. I make her special outfits for birthdays, holidays, events at school and vacations. I would love to own this book!

  182. posiedee | | #182

I love to sew for my 14 granddaughters (sorry to my 6 grandsons), ranging in age from 1-17, just as much as I enjoyed sewing for my 5 daughters (not to mention my 3 sons). But the girls all love clothes and dressing up, and it gives me great pleasure to see them wear what I create. I always love new inspiration and ideas! I especially enjoy working with colorful retro designer cottons. Make me a happy grandma, please!! We will all thank you!!

  183. renadelrio | | #183

I have a 4 yr old granddaughter who is a real lover of frilly clothes to climb the monkey bars in. She is very tiny for her height so I have to make her patterns. I would love to have this book.

  184. Mamasasha | | #184

I am delighted to see a book that emphasizes dresses for little girls and classic styles. My three granddaughters wear the dresses that I made for their mothers long ago, because commercial clothing today is poorly made or poorly designed. I love to sew, but my time is valuable and I only want to use top quality fabrics and patters.

  185. KatieRose7 | | #185

My little sister is tall but thin.. so it is hard to find clouths that are long enough yet not to big. A book like this would be very helpful in making her clouths that fit her properly! Thanks for the chance to win this great book!

  186. saphire_dance | | #186

My daughter is six and I've been sewing dresses and costumes for her since she was born. I'm currently working on adding a space for her new toy sewing machine to my sewing room. I've already taught her how to knit and I'm looking forward to teaching her how to sew, she already loves to help me pick out patterns and fabric. It looks like a lovely book and would make a great addition to my sewing library.

I,sadly, don't have any grandchildren, let alone a grand daughter. SO, I have been 'adopted' as the PGM (pseudo grandma) of a (now) 6 month old little princess! I have already started sewing and knitting for 'our' princess, while I wait in the hope of being an ACTUAL grandma!

Our 5 grandchildren participate in charitable progects in their 4-H and Scout groups. They have sewn soft pillows for cancer patients, and love to come to my sewing room to make p.j.'s and pillow cases. I am a seamstress/quilter and have made costumes for the Brenham Maifest celebration that has been held in Brenham, Tx. for over 120 yrs. Each of the grandchildren have participated throughout their school yrs. Have you ever made a "cheeseburger" costume? Our 3 girls and 2 boys all like to sew, and this book sounds great.

What a wonderful idea for a book - I'll be on the lookout for it in March. I regularly organize sewing projects to work on with my 10 and 11 year old nieces (my daughter is a 20-something art major and can create without my help!) so a resource like this will provide guidance and inspiration to young and old alike. Thanks for letting us know about "Girl's World."

I made a nice puppet theatre and then we made the puppets to go with it and put on a great puppet show. I am just about to make a few heirloom bears for their upcoming birthdays. I would love to have some more great ideas. I have lots of fabric to use and I am a bit low on ideas for spring and summer.

I'm a Dad, and I love to sew. What started as a means to make my own hiking equipment has turned into a hobby. My four boys have all been exposed to sewing. My wife doesn't sew. I am now teaching number five, my daughter MaryElizabeth, age eight. Since she is not as interested in hiking gear and accessories, I would love a book of projects that we can do together and teach her how to sew. My secret goal is for me to sew her Senior Prom dress. Now how cool is that. "O, I just love you dress." "Thanks, my Dad made it.

    Grandmaman | | #207

The little girl for whom I love to sew is the youngest of only 2 granddaughters mixed in with 9 grandsons. She is five and enjoys ballet and tap. She surprised me by reading one of my e-books to me as we sat together on the couch the other day. All the things I have sewn for her from a fleece cape to pjs and nitegown, and play dresses and dressup ones, she wears with pleasure. Her mom tries to send me photos via the internet. We now live two hours away so we don't visit as often. But, since she is so receptive to grandmaman's gifts, there's much motivation to use for her some of my favorite stash and trims as well as the embroidery stitches built into my 1630 Bernina. New ideas for projects such as stuffed toys and little accessories such as purses would be welcome.

  208. apple_blossum | | #208

Awwww, this just reminds me of sewing for my nieces when they were little. They were so chubby and cute. It always made me laugh when I took their measurements cause they ( the measurements) usually looked something like..... 20:25:20.... unlike most girly figures which are "supposed" to be the opposite with the little number in the middle.I love sewing new things and now one of my nieces has the bug too, not having any kids of my own, this book would be a great way to spend time with my nieces. Something I very much enjoy to do!!! Why do they have to grow up so fast.

  209. Newt2011 | | #209

I have taken my passion for sewing and started teaching my young Misses to sew ...they love the girly girl stuff and are over the moon about ruffles...ruffles ruffles everywhere... We even made Miss Maplelia doll) a dress with , you guessed it, ruffle skirt! I see that excited sparkle in thier eye when we start something new! That is what is the best part for me!

Oh, I would so love to get my hands on this book! I absolutely love Jennifer's fabric. I have 3 little girls and a boy. My oldest daughter turned 6 today. I've made them dolls & doll clothes. I have great plans for sewing clothes for my kids - I just need a bit more sleep with our 7 month old. Little girls should dress like little girls and not little adults. I'm so glad to see several books coming out that celebrate childhood through beautiful, girly clothing. Thanks for the chance to win - and for letting us know about this fantastic book!

  211. gocatz | | #211

The girls I sew for are mostly orphans and girls who have been rescued out of prostitution. My eldest daughter is also learning to sew and today finished her first full project,(a little bitty baby dress) which will also go overseas. We are always looking for new ideas because I don't like to make 2 exactly the same. I have 2 little grand-daughters, and the one who lives close by always wants me to make things for her, but understands about the little girls who don't have anything. Thank you for the chance to win this book.

Just bought my 8-year-old niece her first "real" machine at Christmas. Her love of costumes gives me loads of creative opportunities. First, it was the convertible Disney princess dress, a Belle golden ballgown complete with removable skirt swags that quickly transformed to Snow White by unbuttoning the swags and adding the blue bolero jacket with huge puff sleeves. Hats, too, are special favorites, from the oversized felt beret to the fascinator with oodles of bling and tulle. I am thrilled that she is next in a long line of seamstresses stretching back to her great-grandmothers and beyond.

Oh, this book is lovely. I have 2 girls aged 6 and 8 who I love to sew and knit for. They both adore wearing dresses of any kind of style and I am collecting their old favourite t-shirts, sweaters, skirts and dresses that they have outgrown to make them into something new they will equally love. I also have an equal stash of fun fabrics for girls that are waiting to be used up. My oldest is also starting to learn how to sew and this book would get great use in our house.

I would love to win this book for my sister. She is just starting to sew for her 1 year old daughter. Both are extremely girly girls who love whimsical sparkly outfits. She doesn't yet have any books for her library and I think this would be an amazing first one.

  220. msewwhat | | #220

I have two granddaughters aged 6 and 8. I would use this book to sew beautiful dresses for them. I recently introduced my Grands to hand sewing, a way of sharing one of my favorite things. I would let them help me construct these dresses as a way of deepening their love and understanding of the sewing process. To me, sewing is not just about the process and project but it goes much deeper, it is a way of giving a part of myself to the project I'm working on. It is a way of sharing a part of myself whenever I create something on the sewing machine.

I sew for family, friends and anyone with a need for sewing.
My favorite is for girls, because their eyes just light up.

My youngest granddaughter is just three. And she is a real girly-girl and loves everything her 'Nanny' makes for her. She takes great pride in showing off her latest pieces of clothing. And I really enjoy making things for her. Especially things that I used to make for her mother. Having a book with different patterns and different ways of construction would be very well received.

The little girl in my life is Calla Sue, a nine month old beauty.Making her clothes makes her even more so. I would really enjoy using this book.

I'm a 12 year old girl who enjoys fashion and sewing. I think I'd like this book. :)

I sew for myself, my daughter, and now my 2-year-old granddaughter. When my granddaughter walks in our house, she sees my machine set up and says "Sew?" So we sit and sew. She pushes buttons and I guide the fabric. I love making things for her from clothes, to toys, quilts, and specialty outfits, hoping to instill a love for sewing in her as well. I am always looking for inspiration and hope to win this beautiful book!

Wow! Sewing for little girls is fascinating and rewarding. There so many beautiful and colorful fabrics that make each sewing project unique, especially fabrics with out of the ordinary designs and color palettes.
This new book looks like it will become a classic, at least in my library.
My oldest granddaughter just found out she is pregnant and, as you can imagine, I am hoping the baby will be a girl. On the other hand I have two beautiful granddaughters in Arkansas whom I love to surprise. Plus, I have many special little girls that have become to be a part of my life and who inspire me to continue sewing.

i always love sewing girl's dresses. It's my passion. And i love Jeniffer Paganelli. oh how i love to win this giveaway :)

The clothes that I make for my 4 month old granddaughter will later join my family collection of handmade clothes from at least 8 generations of women who lovingly created both basic and embellished garments for their family. Books are a continuing source of inspiration for both modern and heirloom sewing.

I love sewing for my daughter. It's especially nice to see that sizes are not just for toddlers!

I sew for my darling 1 year old daughter, Evy Lois...and all of her friends too! Thank you for the lovely giveaway!

My grand-daughters and even my grandsons and I sew together. Their function is to push the Bernina symbol to make the machine go but my 5 year old grand daughter and I are working on embroidery for a dress we are making for her Laura doll. She is ready to help sew real things. Her 3 year old sister is picking patterns for doll clothes and clothes for herself. Soon, we can sew together. The description of this lovely book sounds like a good one for Grammy and grand-daughters to sew in and it sounds like some projects could be adapted for the young grandson's who like to help in the sewing room. Thank you.

I have a new (1 year old)grand daughter that I want to sew for and teach to sew as soon as possible. My other grand daughter is 18 and loves sewing quilts.

I have a slipcover business that keeps me pretty busy, but during a slow period last year, I spent a couple of afternoons with my friend's 9 year old daughter helping her with sewing projects. My kids are all grown up, and it was so fun to encourage this young creative sewer and help her learn how to use her new sewing machine. Business has picked up and it's hard to carve out the time, but this book would be a special treat for her.

April, I love to sew for my granddaughters. Bridget, Cate, Lauren and Shannon. They love everything I make whether it is a dress, outfit or a pillowcase for their bed. The smiles that light up their faces when I ask them if they want to pick out fabric are priceless. They love to have fittings and know pictures include front and back views. My goal this year is to make matching dresses for all four girls and something that complements for my grandson. This book and Jennifer are great inspirations and maps for success.

I love to sew for my daughters. My youngest is starting to be interested in sewing and I can't wait to sew with her. Anything Jennifer touches is just beautiful, so I can't wait to see this book and try it's designs.

I have 3 young adult boys, but my friend lets me share her granddaughters and I love doing things for them. They are 10, 7, and 4. The 7 year old loves to wear dancing shoes and boots and loves outfits to go with them. Pick me, pick me, pick me!

I now have 3 granddaughters among the 7 grandsons...I would love to do more sewing for them...I haven't done too much since the patterns I have are alittle 'aged' and I don't think the DILs would really like them....something updated would be perfect.

  269. ladybuglovelies | | #269

I have been learning how to sew over the past year and my daughter G age 4 has been my inspiration!!! It is so much fun! We make her clothes and toys, birthday gifts for friends! I would love the book! Thanks so much for the chance!!

  273. sewnonnie | | #273

I sew for my 7 granddaughters and the 3 grandsons that are still young enough to wear the heirloom type clothing. This book would not only give me inspiration and ideas, but will also be a valuable tool as I teach my granddaughters how to sew. Since every girl has such a different personality, I need ideas that range from the "diva" among them, to the sports fanatic who would rather wear a soccer uniform than a dress any day! This book would cover every need and whim of all my precious grandchildren and make it fun at the same time. You just can't get any better than that!

Inspiration is something that we never know where it's going to come from. It's all around us every day. Nature, people, animals, etc. I have 2 granddaughters, one that I made some outfits for school and the other I'm still trying to figure out what she considers "cool." She just says when she sees me dressed up that I am "rocking it." I believe that's a good thing. My older granddaughter recently told me that she has always loved the fact that I embroidered a design with her name in her outfits. She said it made her feel so very special. I believe that this book that is geared for girls would be a wonderful gift and also give both of them inspiration too, as well as myself.

Let us all try to remember what gave us that first inspiration that made us think. Gee, I've got to learn how to sew and create too.

HI, If your 40 and over and you haven't grown up yet, YOU DON"T HAVE TO!
I WANT this for me! I love this stuff! In my town there is an old lady who dresses as pretty as the little girls in this book. I think she looks absoluety lovely. and, I want to be just like her. only, I want to win this book so I can do it now at 40 rather than wait till I'm 80 like her.
Her hats are like the ones in the Girl's World book on the page where they are having a lovely tea party.
    Regards.
    Michelle.
