I vote for the 60's. Color blocked dresses, Twiggy, granny style glasses, peace, love, hippies, woodstock. And of course I grew up in that decade!

  4. jeannineb1976 | | #4

The late '20s. Madeleine Vionnet. Art Deco. You couldn't just up and order a cocktail anywhere you pleased, but it's a small price to pay for the clothing and jewelry.

  12. bellneice | | #12

The late 50s- very early 60s. I love the transition from classic straitlaced 50s to Carnaby Street mod.

I think I was born in the wrong era of time...I have loved vintage things since I was a small child. I wish we wore more ladies'[ fashions in this era of time...when ladies were thought of as special. I would really love to win this book. I love the looks of the roarin' 20's through the 50's.

I love the color blocking of the 60's and the tailored bodice with full skirts of the 50's.

  28. hotroddinfamily | | #28

I would give anything for this book, LOL. I cannot choose between the 1950s or the 1940s, way to much to like about both.

  29. cvan9 | | #29

Doris Day fashion began in the fifties and continued through the 60's for all businesswomen styles in Europe and North America. It was chic, warm, sensible and long wearing classics that preserved a budget-conscience woman reputation for good judgement and sex appeal. I still love vintage late 50's - early 60's. All these techniques create form fitting durable seams.

  30. diCremona | | #30

My favourite time period for women's clothing spans 1912 - 1923. While it's not really a defined stylistic movement, I love the oriental influence that informed the colours and the elegant lines of the garments from these years!

Retro style is in! I especially love the 50' s stle blouses.

  32. Nitewindz | | #32

  41. Sophie101 | | #41

I love the 40's for the style and the 60's for the colors & prints.

  42. CovingtonClass | | #42

The fabric, constructiion and style of the 50s was far superior to the fashion you see on the streets today.

  43. user-932521 | | #43

I've been sewing with these patterns since the 60's, when I first learned to sew. Patterns have definitely changed since then!

  44. masha51 | | #44

Flared skirts and a good fit are what I look for - so post-war 40's through 50's abound! When the yardage is limited, I can make do with a 60's a-line dress.

  45. JoyDee | | #45

The 1940's are my favorite. Even with clothing rations, women's fashion was so elegant, and so were the uniforms (ex. Mainboucher's uniforms). And of course the New Look in the latter part of the 40's. What a decade of fashion extremes!
