Sewing tip: Depending on the fabric, a rolled-hem edge on the flower may not be possible. Instead, pink the edges.

Style Arc: Angie Dress

This feminine summer dress has an empire waist, a ruched midriff panel, and a flowing knee-length skirt. The fitted bodice, with deep front and back V-necks, is cut on grain while the skirt is bias-cut. A center-front, triangular-shaped flounce and a self-fabric flower attach to the neckline’s base. The dress is fully lined (although 1⁄4 yard of lining more than the suggested amount may be needed) and has a center-back invisible zipper. Construction steps are clear and include diagrams illustrating the main sewing steps. Each Style Arc pattern is printed on sturdy paper and includes a swatch of the recommended fabric-in this case, silk georgette. Silk charmeuse and rayon can be used as well. The sample dress is made in silk georgette with a silk charmeuse lining, both from Mood Designer Fabrics.

(Sized 4-30 for busts 30.3-58.25 in. and hips 32.6-61 in.)

Sewing tip: Depending on the fabric, a rolled-hem edge on the flower may not be possible. Instead, pink the edges.
