Oct 08, 2014

Evamarie Gomez and Judith Neukam; shot by Gary Junken

Couture expert Kenneth D. King visited the Threads video studio to record the video workshop, Smart Tailoring with Kenneth D. King. While on set, he had the opportunity to discuss his must-have sewing tools and notions.

In this four-part video series, Kenneth and Threads Executive Editor Judith Neukam give you an exclusive tour of his personal sewing tool kit. He walks you through his essential cutting and sewing tools – some of which he’s customized – and he shares some insider tips and tricks along the way.

Oh this is wonderful.I've got an almost identical bag ( whoop whoop) but it hasn't got all the cool stuff in it ,especially the silver handled stuff . I am definitely doing that !
So nice to get an insight like this.thanks

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words!

The bag, I'm told, can be bought from Bed Bath and Beyond. This one was bought for me years ago at Target, but they discontinued it--a shame, as it's so useful!

Found one on eBay!! Bagalini brand.

I found Part 1 and Part 2 of this series fascinating! I've tried searching online for a similar bag without any luck. If anyone knows of an online source, I'd love to know.

I hope that the remaining two parts of this series will be coming soon. I'll keep checking back hoping to find them up.

I was on the hunt for the perfect bodice tuturial a few months ago and came across the name Kenneth D King and ever since I enjoy all I see of him. His energy for his passion is over the top. His ability to share his knowledge in everyday language is a gift, no doubt. I appreciate the way he explains everything in a way that anyone with basic skills and everyday equipment can achieve with effort and patience. The sneak-a-peek into his tool bag...priceless. Thank you for sharing!

I have got to organize one of these.....whan I travel in the summer (with sewing machine of course) I always seem to need something I have forgotten to pack. I am looking forward to Parts 3 and 4 and I will be on the look out for sterling knives was a wonderful idea.....I love Kenneth King such a good teacher and so down to earth.

I agree with Brabant, I can't wait for parts 3 and 4. I have one of those bags for cosmetics, now I'll have to get one for sewing. Thanks for the great videos.

  9. Brabant October 16th

What a helpful and useful guided tour, can hardly wait for parts 3 and 4. I shall be buying a shaving brush and giving it a flat top right away. Mainly because I doubt I can get Kenneth's special chalk outside America.

Such a good idea to set us this series of videos and so very helpful. Thanks so much. I suppose a sequel in your sewing room for the big kit wouldn't be possible? Or would it?

    Positive vibes from Germany.
