I like to sew lined dresses and tops the best. Also lined jackets I guess. They look nicer, feel nicer to wear, and last longer.

Maxi dresses because they are easy. Lined A-line skirts because they are hard to find in stores.

Dresses that are simple in design and made in an everyday fabric are my go to pattern choice. Don't need many going out or special occasion items, so focus on what is easy to wear (and wash). So much easier to sew today that when I started 47 years ago and this pattern is a great example of versatility. That coat could also be a tunic dress. Thanks for the give away.

I am new to sewing, but I like to sew simple skirts and dresses that are custom fit to me. It is hard to find shorter dresses that are both long enough for me and fitted through the bodice!

Any classic style. I love the vintage, french, classic looks in clothing.

I like to sew groups of classic pieces that all mix and match to create a wardrobe capsule. I will usually choose a fabric for a pair or pants or a skirt, and then I will choose a jacket fabric, a tank fabric, a shell or t-shirt fabric, and a blouse fabric. Then I will choose a print fabric for a long skirt that goes with the solid tank and shell or t-shirt. Sometimes I will add a dress. When finished a have a new capsule of separates that go-together and when packed require only 1 or 2 pairs of shoes, 1 purse, and 1 or 2 suites of jewelry to create many looks.

Larger size ladies prefer simple lines with sleeves. This pattern is perfect for a slimming effect. Also the jacket in two lengths allows for a casual or sophisticated design. I really like this pattern!!!

1168 is beautiful and can be used in different styles. Jacket is suitable for many different occasions. Would love to make it in different fabrics
    for dress or casual.

It's been a while since I have sewn a zipper in a garment. I am ready to attempt this task with some help from Threads. I would like to also attempt the matching coat to complete a wonderful outfit.

I like to sew jackets and coats. These tend to be more expensive in RTW than other types of garments and they can be so beautifully customized and unique if you sew them yourself - as well as cost saving.

There are still times at work, that a professional and classy outfit speaks volumes for you, but the ability to be comfortable can't be understated. I still like dressing up for church, and this dress with jacket is the perfect combination for both work and church.

Uncluttered lines are my favorites. A-line dresses and sheaths work best and are the easiest to wear and to travel for business with. All you need is a little Channel-type jacket, a scarf or jewelry to entirely change your look! Unusual jackets always catch my eye...

This pattern is a timeless style. It looks like couture that Jackie Kennedy Onasis wore. I like that it has a coat/ jacket pattern too. This would be great for an evening dinner.

  24. MiriamMichelle | | #24

I agree, this looks like something Jackie Onassis would have loved. Elegant and classic. That's what I'm really loving to sew. I want to sew things that will never be out of style.

Dresses! They are great to make and fun to wear. I find them easy to accent and alter to fit different occasions. Just like a burger, a girl can't go wrong with a dress :)
