DIY Project: Simple Folded Purses

Create a cute and functional accessory with fabric squares and fusible batting.
Threads #184, April/May 2016
Use less than a yard of fabric to sew a last-minute bag or two for any occasion.

This folded purses project from Threads #184 (April/May 2016) is appropriate for beginners. It yields a cute, handy little bag.

Sew this pretty purse or handy pouch in less than an hour with a little fabric, some fusible batting, and an optional closure. The dimensions of the fabric squares you start with determine the maximum bag height and width, but you can customize the size and shape. Use the tucked-in corners as interior compartments for keys, phone, lipstick, wallet, and more. Your essentials are stored safely without a zipper because the overlapping flaps conveniently hide your possessions.
