The Detroit Cuff

Threads magazine - 187 - Oct./Nov. 2016 Issue

Trends pass, but great style lives on-and it doesn’t have to be haute couture to last. Simple but effective design elements, on garments that wear well for years, can bring comfort, joy, and wonderful memories. One such detail is the Detroit cuff, a sleeve finish introduced in 1955 by the American workwear company Carhartt. In this article from Threads #187 (October/November 2016), you’ll learn how to create a two-piece sleeve pattern to accommodate the vent opening, draft the cuff facing, attach the facing, and finish the sleeve with a lining.

Thank you so much for the article on sewing with the scuba knits, now I know how to sew the fabric, I can start on the Vogue pattern I got at the Sewing Expo in Puyallup, and the scuba fabric I was able to snag locally.
And the great article on the Detroit cuff a la the Carrhart jacket!!
Now, if you could just let us know how to get hold of some of their awesome canvas, that would be perfect.
