Bobbinwork Embroidery

Threads magazine - 187 - Oct./Nov. 2016 Issue
Article Image
In bobbinwork, you sew with the fabric right side down, so that the decorative bobbin thread shows on the fabric’s right side. Combining free-motion stitching with bobbinwork can look like hand embroidery, and you can create large, impressive embroideries in a relatively short time. You might try stitching only design outlines in bobbinwork first, and then graduate to filling in the motifs by tracing the shape in decreasing scales. Once you learn the ins and outs of bobbinwork embroidery in this article from Threads #187 (October/November 2016), you’ll want to add it to all your projects.
