Elliot the Peacock
comments (0) November 5th, 2009 in sewing, reader's closetMy daughter Elliot was a peacock for Halloween. I made a tutu out of green, blue and purple tulle. I cut each layer and color to different lengths, in order to make it look like feathers. I sewed ribbon to the top layer of tulle to look like the shaft of the peacock feather. I sewed layers of felt cut into a teardrop shape to create the "eyes" of the feather. I also sewed these "eyes" to a store bought shirt. I put a lining in the tutu so that the skirt would lay flat against her leggings, and give the tutu some body.
