This is a mother & daughter collaboration to design the perfect wedding dress for my daughter Amanda. The fabric was a heavy Shanung in Taupe using the satin side rather than the matte side. I altered a Vouge pattern close to the design my daughter had invisioned by changing the neckline and adding a pleated tulip hemmed overlay that fell just under the bodice. Amanda put together the embroidery designs from Martha Pullen to create the motifs that we would embroider on the bodice, side bodice, overlay and train. Together my mother and I engineered a way to embroider the train in three sections while holding the fabric in back of my Happy Embroidery machine. Mom took each embroidered piece home and beaded each motif with seed beads of coral and crystal for accents. I made the gown's foundation using various aticles from Threads as a guide. The petti coat was attached to the bodice foundation then covered in the fashion fabric once it was embroidered and beaded. After two muslins and two fittings the gown was a pefect fit and held up to a surprise bride and groom dance.

I have been making my daughters wedding dress for her March Wedding, so I can really appreciate the amount of work and the true labor of love this dress is. You and your Mother should be very proud of the results. What a gift to your daughter.

My Grandmother, Mom and I love to sew and made our wedding gowns. I kept pieces of the hand beaded lace from my gown and when my Grandmother passed away a florist used it to create a small bouquet for her.

Am I understanding correctly that the dress was envisioned by the bride and created by her mother and grandmother? What a treasure in love as well as art. This is truly a dress to pass down through generations to come. May Amanda and her husband share a lifetime of happiness together.
