I am a former Ribbonartist, very fortunate to have been able to learn from several masters and to teach.  I gave it up many years ago due to a lack of public interest.  I have many more photos of past work.

bonVintage: I apprecite your information regarding preservation societies & I'm going to check out the one you mentioned. It sounds very interesting.

RibbonArtist: I hope you now realize what a really "HOT" thing this Ribbon Art is now. Everyone is interested or will be when they see the work being done. I hope you do something with your talent. Since you already have photos and everything. I think writing a book would be the way to make quite a bit of money (Ribbon Art books are really selling), but more importantly, it would be the best way for you to reach the GREATEST NUMBER OF PEOPLE and pass your talent on for others. I really have been looking for some instruction in the kind of Ribbon Art you do - something almost Victorian and very ELEGANT. Frankly, I can't find a book that teaches that kind of Ribbon Art. I just bought Ribbon Renaissance by Helen Eriksson for about $30.00. She has a beautiful picture on the front of the book. Inside you get a poor diagram of where the flowerss are placed and that is all. PLEASE WRITE A BOOK ASAP! I really need it and I am getting frustrated because I can't find it. If you go to the Roxanne's Ribbonry.com you will see the kind of work I want to do. Roxanne has Ribbon retreats at a very expensive hotel but no kits or instruction or books you can buy. Then she sells her embellishments during the retreat. I would die to go but I can see it would cost me over $1,000 and maybe more. She doesn't tell you what supplies may cost. I love the little tea cup pin cushions with flowers, etc. and the Strawberry she has crazy quilted & embellished with roses & pansies. She also has a magnificent tassel. She wanted me to come to the retreat even though I don't know how to do Crazy Quilting (many of her things are done with this). I don't think I would want to do that until I learn how to crazy quilt - even on a very small scale. She has a picture of a basket of flowers with silk flowers, etc. and it is to die for - it is so GORGEOUS. These are the kinds of elegant things I want to learn and I have a feeling that you could teach those same things. She has a heart shaped Stitcher's Amulet for sewing needles, etc. - one has half doll & a cockcade (which she calls a cockcarde-but that is part of a military uniform). Oh, how I wish I could talk to you. I would love to take private lessons if you would give them.
I wish you luck and much success and I'll be looking for your book.

jenna54 jenna54 writes: Ribbonartist: I wish you had written a book with lots of instructions. From the picture above your work has a real elegance that I have been searching for and I know other people are too. Think about writing a book, especially if you have lots of examples of your work already, the rest should be easy. Please, for the rest of us - write a book!

jenna54 jenna54 writes: Please check out the books written by Di van Niekerk. Check her Fan page on Facebook. You will notice how kind & generous she is to her students. She answers questions very quickly & gives away free designs, her time & her knowledge. No other person who is writing books on the subject displays her spirit. Write & ask her for advice - she will give it freely. Before I bought a single one of her books I sent her several emails. She answered every one - fully and guided me to select a perfect design for my first choice. She is unique in the business. You can just read her Fan Page & visit her site if you like - at the very least you will enjoy seeing her work. Good luck and may angels guide you.

I became interested when about 50 years ago I received a copy of Ribbon Art written in 1923, I believe, and I have loved it ever since. I wish I had your knowledge & ability. Please, don't give up, your talent is sorely needed. So many books are being published by people who don't have your talent. I wish I could contact you to give you the name of someone who writes books & teaches but is also very trustworthy and spiritual in her generosity to her students. This is not possible, but I will pray that you are led to the right people to pass your knowledge and talent to others.

If selling, have you thought of maybe trying http://www.etsy.com ?

Thank you for such lovely comments. I appreciate your information I had NO idea!! I sold hat pins, lapel pins, pillows, covered boxes at a store near where I lived and taught classes. I had a web page but took it down about 4 years ago. I collected vintage items and added them to some of my collages.

bonVintage bonVintage writes: This work is lovely! I believe there is still a MAJOR interst in this artistry. This was an art very much alive in the 1920s and 1930s and therefore there are MANY ART DECO PRESERVATION SOCIETIES alive and flourishing on the web and in many cities, such as http://www.artdecosociety.org. THERE ARE COSTUME SOCIETIES, art deco weekends, art nouveau preservation leagues that hold massive markets for antiques clothing and reproductions of this era.
Also, many INDIE design studios that look for specailty trims and accents for their art-to-wear garments. These would be beautiful vintage style hat trims, boudior trims, etc. Look around and maybe remarket your art. It is truly beautiful.
