Upholstery Clutches

So today is my friend’s birthday and for her gift I decided to make her a clutch (which then in turn meant I made another for myself!)

For the basic shape and instructions I used New Look pattern 6457.

The fabric came from an upholstery sample and with the shape of the pattern the print magically matched up perfectly on the front!

I then chose to add some cute trim to give the purses some extra flare.

I also decided to add grommets and put in a light gold chain so that the purse was more versatile.

The gold chain can be used at two different lengths since it loops all of the way through the purse.

LOVE that little bag and it's so great that the pattern matched up that way! What did you use for lining?

    Thanks!
And the lining is actually just a double layer of muslin.
I had a bunch and thought it would hold up well.
