Skirt with Separating Zipper

Here is a skirt that I made a little while ago.

The base was designed by me (no patterns involved)

I decided to add a zipper on the left hand side of the skirt that is able to completely separate so it is easy to get on and off.

Fabric is fleece so that I can stay warm when out and about in the city (plus, that means the inside is nice and soft 🙂

I love the skirt...flecce...how cozy! I am re-styling two wrap skirts and I am going to do a front zip on one and large hooks and eyes on the other.

Wondering what size zipper you used..I am trying to order online and am having trouble sorting out the right size for an "industrial" look as you achieved.

I used to live near a wonderful fabric store but now *sigh* I have to use the internet.

Oh..just clicked on your profile and see you are in SF -though UK due to the "pub" reference...I am in Tahoe and used to live near Britex. Miss it so. If you can let me know where you purchased zipper, brand and size that would be great.
    Thanks again

    thanks!
And I bought the zipper at a craft store on Haight St. (yes near the infamous Haight and Ashbury) called Mendel's Far-Out Fabrics (http://www.mendels.com/)
I do not remember the brand I got, but the zipper is fully separating and is 18" long.
This zipper is even double sided (i realized this after buying it) but the skirt was already constructed so I didn't use it for that purpose.
And I sewed the zipper completely on the outside to keep the industrial feel.

Wish I had a little more info.
But def. search for fully separating zippers and hopefully you will find what you need!
