For comfort, ease of care and hand I chose a queen size bed sheet for my fabric. Colorfastness, ideal weight, and color were also factors for my fabric choice. The patterns I used were Vogue for the sundress and New Look for the jacket, both of which had minor changes made to them for my creation. Embellishment for the ensemble, were 2 different sizes of grosgrain ribbon stitched together and applied as one for the bodice/bow dress trim and jacket sleeve cuff tie. As red polka dot on white was difficult to find for the jacket lining I opted for a sharp white contrast. I attached a red, skirt lining to the inside dress bodice to provide ease of wear for the summer. The entire garment was straight stitched with the exception of the serger finishing on the armscye. This combination would be ideal for all sewing skill levels. I had great fun doing this, so thanks to Threads for the opportunity to revive bold, beautiful RED and the art of SEWING!
