Little Dresses for Africa
Little Dresses for Africa is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to distribute dresses to little girls in remote villages of Africa. Nancy's Notions employees are teaming up with this organization to sew and package dresses, then ship them to Africa. You, and your child, can help change lives with these simple projects.
Teaching children to sew with these little dresses is a wonderful opportunity that allows your child to learn new skills while also participating in helping other less fortunate children.
When completed and mailed off to become a grateful little girl in Africa prized possession. Your children have learned a new skill and found their own sense of accomplishment and self esteem.
I bought my material through Nancy's Notions.* The kit cost 24.99 and made 3 dresses, and included the coordinating bias tape. I did have to buy thread and elastic. It took me an afternoon to make all three dresses, it was fun and easy. Or you can down load the instructions at creativekindness.com and use your own fabric or even gently used pillowcases. I am not a seamstress; if this pattern is easy for me I am sure anyone can do it.
