Daughter's wedding dress and her bridesmaids
comments (3) September 2nd, 2010 in sewing, design, fabric, embellishments, reader's closetI made my daughters wedding dress and her bridesmaids dresses. We went to the Garment District in LA and found some really beautiful fabrics. My daughter wanted all the girls to look different and she wanted to use sherbert colors in Stretch Charmuese. We found all the colors she wanted in one store. The girls all helped design their style of dress with the idea that they would all be crop top length for the top portion and black charmuese for the skirt portion. My daughter designed her dress with inspirations from others that she liked. Her dress is a two piece, Narrow A-line skirt with an attachable train. The top is a corsette top with a rhinestoned, separating zipper. The corsette is made of white Charmuese and embelished with embroidered bridal fabric. It is full of Swarvoski rhinestones. (My daughter put those on) The train is wide and long. It is made out of lightweight silk and is sewn with a lot of strips of shiny organza and a few glitter organza. We then took the strips and started to rip them to give it a flowing, airy, feathery look. We scattered a few rhinestones on the train. It looked amazing. I made the veil in two lengths with a simple rolled hem sewn on a beautiful rhinestoned head piece.
