I made my wedding dress and my mum made my bridesmaid dresses for my April wedding!

My wedding dress was based off of a five thousand dollar wedding dress I saw in a store window.  My mum and I took pieces from three different dress patterns and lots of muslins to finally come up with this design.  The dress has a ruched bodice with a hidden back zipper, sweetheart neckline and a full skirt with 4 ft train.  Straps outline the bust and form a 'V' in the back.  The dress is made from silk doupioni, with silk organza interlining for strength and a silk lining.  Total cost was $350!

Figuring out how to make a French bustle was definitely the hardest part.  We had multiple attempts at placing the ribbons before we got it right!  Making the dress with my mum was one of the best parts of my wedding.

My mum made the bridesmaid dresses for each of my bridesmaids.  My bridesmaids chose two different dress patterns, which really flattered the very different body shapes we had to work with.  Two girls chose a full skirted halter dress and two girls chose a V-neck dress with a bias skirt.  The dresses were made from hot pink silk, with silk organza to help ease the drape on the body.  Total cost per dress was $80.
