Flounce About Jacket (© Saf-T-Pockets Patterns)
This jacket was a lot of fun to make. Very easy and just as easy to wear - it looks fabulous with jeans in a light wash. The pattern used was the Flounce About Jacket from Saf-T-Pockets.
The pattern, fabrics and buttons I used were purchased from Waechter's Fine Fabrics - a company I've loved ever since I first heard about it right here on the Threads web site.
I used silk dupioni in clear turquoise for the main body of the jacket, and Waechter's silk dupioni fat quarters package in "Every Girl Gets the Blues" to piece together the front, back, and sleeve bands.
Since I wanted a softer feel I prepared the material by machine washing in cold water, gentle cycle, air dried for 5 minutes and then laid flat to finish drying.
This silk sews up like a dream with no fuss required. The only thing I did differently from the pattern construction directions was to reduce the sleeve cap by about 1 inch as the material resisted being eased in that much. The end result was an almost perfectly fitted sleeve that hangs well and doesn't bind.

To SewingSteph: Thank you. You won't be disappointed. This jacket works up so quickly and beautifully I surprised myself.
