Candlewick N Roses
This pattern is Simplicity 3684 a "Thread Magazine Collection" edition. A simple bib front shirt. Very easy construction. I cut out all the pieces I wasn't embroidering first. Then I laid out the pieces to be embroidered and using a blue wash away pen, marked the basic area of the pattern piece. I embroidered each piece on sticky wash away stabilizer. Washed and pressed the piece, then cut each out. I did mirror images of the bib design so they would match. When the shirt was finished being sewn, I hand embroidered heirloom bullion rose buds in each button to attach it to the shirt. A feminine touch without being too frilly. I'm learning heirloom sewing and as I learn new techniques, I try to add them to modern garments. This blouse was inspired by Threads Issue 140 article Three takes on the Classic White Shirt.
