Debys Jacket Challenge Entry

This is my entry for the jacket challenge  I constructed this using Simplicity pattern 2504. This is a jacket with an assymetrical front closure as well as an asymmetrical off center collar.  This is my first attempt at a jacket and I was pleased with the results although the instructions for constructing the collar were unclear as was voiced by others who posted comments on a pattern review site.  Ultimately I followed my instintcts and made it work.  I was unable to locate a separating zipper that would match the lime green fleece so I altered the closure method as well.  I decided to sew buttonhoes and use fun coordinating colored buttons.  I used a glacier fleece for the fabric and a pretty coordinating cotton print for the front facing.  The interior seams were left unfinished and just pressed open.  The collar facing was pinked, then hand catch stitched as were the hems of the sleeves and body of the jacket.  This was a fun project and the collar challenge only proved to inspire me to be resourceful and finish.
