Glenda the Good Witch
My sister phoned and asked me to cut off her 1990's wedding gown and cover it with pink tulle to make her costume. I refused to cut her gown and drove the 60 miles to her home. Upon arriving at her home, she'd bought 4 yds. of tulle to cover the whole gown, and thought I'd have it completed in about 4 hours! After a quick trip to the fabric store; 8 yds. of netting, 8 yds. of tulle, and two days later, I had transformed her wedding gown into this version of Glenda. I cut each section (bodice front and back, sleeves, poof on sleeves, skirt) separately and stitched it to the corresponding gown section. It is all sewn by hand for easy future restoration, except for gathering the tulle, which I did on my machine. The skirt was fitted onto the gown (which I had put on a dress form) in two layers. These were sewn onto a base of ribbon and then attached to the gown while on the form. She made the crown herself.
