The Defenceless Musketeer
It was two weeks before Halloween when my friend finally pursuaded me to make a costume with her this year. I had no idea what to be so as I was flipping through the Simplicity Catalogue, I saw this really cute pattern (#3685) and I bought it! I was a pirate last year so this year I decided to become a muskateer, dispite the fact that most people mistakened me to be a pirate... again =(.
This pattern was really easy and fast to make. It took me about 8 hours I think. The peplum jacket design is what really caught my attention to this pattern because I really love the regal design to it. The jacket is made out of home decor cotton-poly blend. I made the dress neutral so that I could wear it casually too!
I also made the hat last year for my other pirate costume. The hat didn't turn out well as it was really flimsy and looked a bit "cheap". Never use flimsy felt without some sort of stiff foundation (perhaps sponge?). But then again, I didn't have enough time to remake another hat. As for the necklace, I was inspired by a project on the Micheals website and created an variation of the original necklace.
In conclusion, I am very proud of the way my costume turned out this year and hope to remake my flimsy hat and find my lost sword!=)
