McCall’s Sees “Fresh and Fabulous” Changes for Spring 2011

Great designs and new, easy to follow style symbols make spring 2011 exciting for McCall’s pattern lovers.

The new McCall’s style symbols make your pattern selection a breeze. The symbols are: One Hour Machine Sewing Time, Easy, Plus, Petite, Separate pattern pieces for A through D Cup Sizes, Knits, Unisex, Reversible, and Sew Free.

McCall’s has introduced fresh styles from young new designers as well as from their current top designers.  Laura Ashley has a cute new spring dress, pattern no. 6277. Either go classic with the sleeveless option or, for an extra feminine touch, add the elbow length flared sleeves. This pattern has the “Easy” and “Sized by bra cup” symbols.

Palmer & Pletsch’s knit lined dress, pattern no. 6282, with cowl neck and waist gathering, can easily be made into a pretty daytime or fun “night out” dress.

Melissa Watson’s jacket, pattern no. 6294, gives clean and modern lines. With three length variations and two sleeve options–choose whichever flatters you the best.

Go trendy with a double-breasted dress, pattern no. 6279. For little girls, make a whimsical dress and leggings pair complete with ruffles and a shaped hemline, pattern no. 6272. Both these patterns are marked “Easy”and are great weekend projects!

These are just a few of the new styles so be sure to look through the full new line!  Which new pattern is your favorite?

Though I'm not so crazy about the fabric choices shown, the one I'm most drawn to right now is M6280 -- a nice flowing shape for warmer weather and out-of-the ordinary piecing. I'm seeing it in 3 or 4 bright solids instead of prints, or maybe a classic natural linen with black top-stitching to accent to seams.

I agree on M6280 - I see natural linen and the black top-stitching would look really good. Don't think my shape would be good for the design but I like it - again I agree in solids rather than different prints - maybe one extra print would be ok as an accent but not in several places. Really didn't find any that inspired me to want to make something new for spring.

I can't even adequately express how great it is to have "A, B, C, D" cup size patterns! Now I can just cut my size and not have to make those complicated alterations! Yippee!!!!!!
