Sweet Cherry Kimonii
This is the simplest version of the design I have made, in burgundy corduroy with a bias binding made from cream cotton with a vintage style cherry print. It's part lined with a corduroy facing in the jacket section, and the edge is finished with the binding. I tend to make the obi (belt) section first, then make the body section in two halves, joining the pants section at the inside leg seam and then putting the facing to the body section wrong sides together, stay stitching it and then putting in the sleeve. There is no side seam, as I always try to eliminate as many seams as I can, and I re-cut a traditional sleeve so that the sleeve seam is on top, rather than underneath. After I have put the sleeve in, I then close up the sleeve seam and the shoulder seam in one move. Then I flip up the facing, and join the two sides of the facings and the main body cb seam in one long move. After whizzing on the binding, you just attach the front pants to the obi belt, and put in the press studs.
Simpels!
