tishatoone writes: I have already entered 4 items in a show called "ECOTRASH Runway". If selected I will get to send something down a real runway for recycled/upcycled items. I am making an "over the top" pink silk wedding gown with veil and hat" This is constructed with torn up strips of old pink and white prom gowns and a old piece of pink silk and tuile.
I am also entering a upcycled cashmere dress- made from two sweaters with a stylish little tam hat that matches. My third item is a black velour halter top and short, short hot pants crafted from a pair of size 3X black velour womens pants. I have also entered some upcyled fingerless gloves, with cashmere flowers and upcyled sweater hot bottle holders. That is my entry stuff. I have also recently crafted some cashmere sleep masks from upcycled cashmere and some cashmere IPOD owl holders. Next up is Kindle- E reader covers from upcycled woolens.

LDL writes: During the coldest winter months I pick up my crochet hook, now it is time to put that away and get back to my sewing machine to complete a dust cover for that machine and several pillow cases for charity. These will get me warmed up for the quilted back pack and purse for a competition that need to be completed on a tight time schedule. Then it's onto at least one art quilt before facing some UFOs in the late Spring. After such a productive season, is there a new sewing machine in my future? May be!

I'll also be making her veil(with hand beading), ring bearer's pillow, garters,flower girl's basket, altering her gown and her bridesmaids gowns, and any other little project she can think of for me to do. My son has asked me to add a gusset with a zipper to his motorcycle cover. And I'll be volunteering at our local Harley Owner's Group (HOG) Club/Sponsor's hog roast sewing patches on to jackets/vests once a month.(Patch Attach) We use the proceeds to help children in our community attend various functions that they could not normally afford to attend.

EllACee writes: This spring, as in every other spring for years, my project list consists of SHORTS ... and at least one skirt.

As a girl, I was what we used to call a 'tomboy', and I always wore shorts, shorts, shorts, nothing but shorts, from May through September (we live in Florida). My grandmother, who studied dressmaking in Germany before she came to America, sewed them for me, with matching halter tops.

Back then, I could never understand why G'ma always wore skirts, year round. After all, you couldn't hang upside down from a tree branch wearing a skirt!

As I've gotten older, I've begun to appreciate the simple appeal and beauty of skirts. Though my days of climbing trees are probably coming to an end, I haven't given that pleasure up completely, so I still need my shorts!

But this spring, when the weather warms and the sun dapples the back yard through the leaves of the oak, I am going to sew - and wear - a frilly, flippy, girly skirt, in honor of G'ma.

Stillsewing writes: I am going to my nephew's wedding in July --- the first of my nephews/nieces to marry and so I am going to make some furnishings for the bridal home, fancy cushions and matching curtains, linens to co-ordinate, just as soon as the bride decides on the colour scheme. Storage baskets for my grandson's bedroom (these are currently in progress). Also, summer outfits for my 3 grandchildren. Oh I almost forgot to mention and really want to get a jump on this this year, a Christmas Tree Skirt for me and advent calenders for my grandchildren. My grandson has a May birthday that I'll also be sewing things for including his outfit.

Daisy2love writes: I love the design and look of the maxi dresses. I wanted to put a twist on the fabric I have seen being used. I plan on making a couple using ethnic and brocade materials. I also like the pillow case dresses for litle girls and thought I may explore making them using the same material. I further plan to redo my bedroom using the same comforter set (slate blue) and do accents of brown and animal prints for pillows, curtains and my footboard. This is just the start of my list, I will eventually make it to the bathroom and my den referring to Threads for inspiration.
