Smocked Dress

I had the bright idea to try smocking! I used the lines in the design of the fabric as a guide and kind of made up my own smocking pattern. I added beads in each smocked area. The beads and iridescence of the fabric played on the light for a different effect. The design and pattern are original from me.

I have been asked, "What is your design asthetic? What is your point of view? Who is your favorite designer?" I must say I don't have one! LOL! If I did I think it would put me in a box. I may never be a fashion designer with a line but I'm having fun!
I love fabric manipulation and I love fancy dresses. Most of the time I have a technique I want to try and I usually happen upon the perfcet fabric for it.

SewLively1 SewLively1 writes: Lovely! I especially like how the hem treatment balances the bodice smocking. Honeycomb stitch works nicely for this type fabric. Was this dress for you or someone else?
