chan red willow art
this embroidery is not finished but it is done on thin silk which i have previously painted a watercolor on. the embroidery will only be partial so that the watercolor and embroidery can work together inhancing each other. this is called the "GU" style made famous during the Sung Dynasty in China. the woman is the infamous HELEN STEVENS from England who has written many beautiful and more than helpful books on embroidery. she also has a big online site where she has a gallery and sells embroidery supplies and books . she also teaches and one day, if i am so lucky, i will go to learn under her. i will post the finished embroidered painting. enjoy. the foxgloves are challenging but fun to embroider.
