The dress is made from an iridescent peach lace. The skirt is separate from the bodice, has three layers, and fits over a hoop. The front of the bodice gathers to a point and is structured with corset bones.

That is stunning, how long did it take you from designing to finish?
You really had to ask me how long it took didn’t you… I started this dress 10 years ago. I had made the skirt and puff sleeves and I hated them. They were washed out and the skirt was too bulky around the waist. So the project sat unfinished for 10 years. I decided last summer that it was time to finish the dress so I ripped everything apart and redesigned it. I cut the lace from the original two tiered skirt into three tiers (so the top tier had less volume and ended up less bulky in the waistband). I decided the white cotton underlining I was using was washed out so I threw it out and started again. This time I attempted to die the underlining a soft peach however, I did not have peach die on hand so I combined red and yellow die (which should have made orange) and ended up with 10 yards of hot pink cotton. Unwilling to admit any mistakes, I covered all the hot pink pattern pieces with a heavy white polyester organza, typically used for curtains. The organza washed out the hot pink enough to where I think I got away with the mistake I refuse to admit to. So, long story short, the dress took 10 years and 6 months to complete. In reality…it should have only taken 3-4 weekends.
Wow that is amazing. . . :)
I'm afraid I don't understand fully how this gorgeous dress is worn. You said that the bodice is separate from the skirt but, the picture shows the two are connected......or do you have a really nifty way to make the two pieces look joined?
