This vest was commissioned by my client. It is made from felted Alpaca fiber from a local Maine farm. It was felted in a slight chevron shape and also an oblong shape which was cut to create the closure on one side. The vest is marbled felt on one side and a more solid coloring on the other. Thus it has 2 different attitudes and can reverse from a marbled look to a more solid coloration. The pieces were sewn together by hand, a blanket stitch to keep the piece truly green. Pockets were crafted in on the marbled side. The vest, once completed, was then steamed on a form to give it more shape. It was great working with the Alpaca because the fiber allowed me to create my own fabric and was able to form the vest ,similar to steaming a felt hat into shape.
