"Buck Rogers" jacket
I asked my grandson for some input on my next project for him. After spending a very long time looking through my vast collection of embroidery designs he finally decided on a single one: a retro looking rocketship. So we had a theme! Since I had heard my Dad many a time say, "Just like Buck Rogers" whenever he saw a new gadget or gizmo, I poked around a few places and came up with a series of designs that I hope fill the bill. "Return of the Zuggs" was a real Buck Rogers movie! The pattern is Kwik Sew's "jean jacket"; fabric is twill. Retro space print quilting cotton to line the body of the jacket. My machine balked at the buttonholes through the many thicknesses, so I created them in my embroidery software and stitched them out with the embroidery module. I could not find the typical heavier weight topstitching thread in the right colour, so I used two spools of regular thread, but threaded them as one.
