Victorian dress

Boston has such beautiful cemeteries I thought I would take an old time photo for my collection of Halloween decor

I made this dress for a trip to Boston.  Thanks to Truly Victorian patterns I was able to make this dress without too many problems.  I made changes to the front jacket and vest lowering the neckline, so this is not a correct period outfit.

After searching photos online and gathering supplies at local thrift stores I designed my hat and parasol.  I used an old mens felt hat and a soft black velvet skirt for the material, which I also use to make the purse. For my parasol,  I found an old blue and brown umbrella, cut the spokes to make it smaller and re-covered with black nylon and lace.  I made the corset a few years ago.  I am very happy how it turned out!
