Have you seen Erica Domesek's blog P.S., I Made This ? It's full of great ideas on how to make items based on runway trends quickly and easily.
Recently she did a video for the Craft Club on Teen.com where she showed how to make this super-cool faux fur vest without sewing a stitch. The vest is very much like the Cirlce Vest I did for Threads 146, except she didn't bind the edges.
For a few tips on cutting faux fur:
- Never use a rotary cutter and mat. You'll cut through the fur's fibers and end up with a fuzzy mess on your hands
- Trace your pattern on the fur's wrong side
- Use scissors to cut through the backing fabric ONLY and not the fur on the right side. The fur pulls apart after being cut with minimal mess.
- Never iron faux fur. It will melt the fibers.
