How to Restyle a Straight Skirt

A slim, straight skirt is flattering for almost every figure, but it can also be conservative and even a bit boring. This tutorial from Quick Stuff to Sew, Vol. 1 offers a way to take a straight skirt from plain to fabulous by removing the front darts, adding some fabric, and folding it in style.

Not only does this design manipulation add some softness to the front to make it more flattering, it lets you wrap the excess fabric to create a cool new look. You can fold it over and add a button, wrap it to the side with snaps, or make a self-fabric tie or bow closure. And you can make this skirt any length you want. This is truly a skirt with options. Best of all, since it doesn’t need a zipper or a waistband, it’s quick!
