"Kwik" to Sew for Summer
Kwik Sew recently released their spring/summer pattern line. This is the first Kwik Sew collection since their merger with McCall's and it features many easy to sew items. Much of the collection is craft and children's items; however several easy-to-sew garments grabbed out attention. In addition, they've introduced a new pricing model--all patterns are $11.99 each.
Vintage inspired, pattern 3929 has a flattering princess seamed bodice and a full skirt. View A features a sweetheart neckline and cap sleeves while view B has a boat neckline and is sleeveless. Both views have side seam pockets and are gathered between two tucks at the center front and back waist. Ideal for light- to midweight wovens, this pattern is great for everyday-wear in a cotton or linen blend, or for evening in crepe or silk shantung.
Made for color blocking, pattern 3932 allows you to play with color in a simple, sleek silhouette. The dress shown has a bold appearance, however for a subtler version, select fabrics that are merely different in tone such as a black and two shades of grey. Recommended for a variety of knits, however ponte and other double knits will work best.
A lightweight jacket or vest, pattern 3930 is the perfect answer to crisp spring mornings and cool summer evenings. Designed for woven fabrics, this loose-fitting topper has a drawstring neck- and waistline, two patch pockets with flaps and optional snaps, and a stand-up collar.
Pattern 3950 is a T-shirt with a deeply cut cowl neckline. Choose either cut-on cap sleeves or three quarter length sleeves and pair either with the simple form-fitting camisole. Recommended for drapey lightweight knits such as jersey.
Pattern 3933 is a fitted mock-wrap style top with a deep V-shaped neckline and gathered shoulder seams. Make it sleeveless or three quarter length and add an optional jabot with three fabric flowers.
