This two-piece gown was made for a Senior Prom. I started out using a Butterick bridal pattern, but ended up redesigning the bottom (skirt) and creating my pattern design for the top.  For the top front, I used the Butterick pattern. The back was designed based on Alyssa’s suggestions. I designed it on paper first, then cut out pattern pieces. The top was fully lined and made from a soft satin and a floral lace overlay. It has boning front and back. The loops were made with purchased “rat tail” satin roping. The back was the laced up with extra-long hand-made spaghetti straps. I finished the strap-ends with pearl tear drops. The skirt was fully lined and made from the same soft satin fabric as the top, but overlayed with organza. The organza overlay was sewn using French seams. Because of the French seams, I had to be very creative to get the zipper sewn into the skirt so that the raw edges weren’t facing the outside. The color was Champagne. I also made an evening bag utilizing all of the same fabrics.
