This is my wedding. I made my dress, the bridesmaids’ dresses, and my husband’s shirt. My mother made all the hats and headbands.
My dress is made of blue cotton overlaid with that beautiful mirror organza. I used french seams on the organza skirt. I hand stitched pearls and crystal chips to the bodice, and burned the hemline instead of sewing it.
The bridesmaids dresses were made of muslin, and I added lace to each dress according to the individual girl’s preference.
My husband’s shirt was made of kona cotton, with the grommet holes first being hand bound before applying the grommets. This method makes for the most durable grommets I’ve ever tried.
Overall, some of my best work, and a wonderful wedding! Making the gowns really saved us money, and gave me exactly the dress of my dreams!
Love your wedding theme -- very fun and the bridal party's attire, all being made by you, makes everything more special!
I'd like to get actual patterns that you used, especially for the bridesmaid dresses -- been looking for something similar to this for another purpose and after seeing your beautiful pics, a pattern number would be fantastic.
Thank you for sharing your wedding day with all of us,
Beth ;)
