Doggie Wedding Tuxedo Shirt

My doggie Wills is ready for his closeup!

I made this shirt for my doggie to pose for wedding photos for my daughter’s wedding on Saturday, March 9th, 2013. It is a Kwik Sew pattern and the body of the shirt is made from cotton knit fabrics. I bound the lower edge with a strip of ribbing attached with my Babylock Coverstitch machine and a binding foot.

The pattern instructions were to attach the collar and bowtie with hand stitching, but I wanted to make them detachable since I made them out of silk dupioni. So I threaded a ribbon through the back of the “knot” on the bowtie, and stitched two buttonholes on the shirt, allowing me to simple tie it on. I attached the collar at centre back with a button and buttonhole. There are just a few handstitches on the front of the collar to remove when I need to wash the shirt.

I also made the ring bearer’s outfit and pillow, flower girl’s dress and jacket, veil and cape for my daughter.
