Halloween Costume Contest 2012

Cinderella

at mickeys not so scary halloween party in walt disney world

I made these costumes for Mickeys not so scary halloween party in the magic kingdom at Walt Disney World this year. I made all three, but I am entering Cinderella. Cinderella was a combination of drafting and commercial patterns, though the commercial patterns were altered heavily. The bodice is a fully lined and spiral steel boned corset, the skirt is a two piece skirt comprising of a peplum skirt and a full pleated two layered ballgown skirt. It is an embroiderd organza over a casa satin. The corset is made with a stabalizer layer of coutil and a lining. All binding made to match. A hoop is under the ballgown. I made this as well. I also styled the wig, and made the jewelry. The gloves were purchased. I started these in March this year, and finished them in September, the bulk of the time being spent on Cinderella.

I think I deserve to win this because I am self taught, and have worked very hard to do the absolute best I can and push myself every year with learning new and harder techniques. I have spent hours researching new techniques as well as old to try to achieve the desired end product. I am usually making things that are from animation, so the challenge of making sure the real garment holds the same magic and floaty quality is very important to me. I do this as a hobby around my full time job, and it is something I love to do, and take much pride in. I hope that you have enjoyed my costume as much as i have!

I agree that you should win, you did an astonishingly professional job, the dress looks like something out of a hollywood movie. Congratulations on such beautiful talented work of all 3. This is definitely your calling.
