Lace turn of the century inspired dress

Front view

I made the dress out of black lace over a nude colored satin.  The dress has hook and eye closures up the back.  The bottom ruffle of the skirt is the salvage edge of one side of the lace fabric.  The matching scallop detail across the midriff and sleeve cuff was the other selvedge edge that was cut out and hand sewn on.

I have always loved the turn of the century style dresses and have made a few others over the years.  I stumbled across the lace in a shop in the garment district of Los Angeles and knew exactly what to do with it….

FYI, the lace melts under an iron, oops….so don’t look to closely J
