Custom Mermaid Costume
Every year, my workplace decorates the office for Halloween and all the staff members wear costumes based on a theme. When the team decided on the theme "the Pirate Ship", I decided that this was the perfect opportunity to create an innovative mermaid costume. The tail was made with a woven mesh (no stretch) fabric that had sequins in the shape of leaves. Underneath the tail was a polyester lining. The top of the mermaid costume included a shiny, skin-toned mesh. I sewed two zippers in the back of the top; one to zip myself in and one upside down at the end of my tail, allowing me to walk. The fins were made out of an old quilted jacket lining.
Out of all the homemade costume that I have created, this is by far my favourite!
