Little Miss Owl
My 17-month old daughter in the owl costume designed and made just for her. I cut 2" x 2 " squares from fabric scraps, then trimmed for a more feather-like look and sewed them in staggered rows onto an old dress. I cut ovals out of felt for the wings and sewed 5" rectangular (and trimmed to shape) feathers on. Using one of her comfy headbands I sewed more "feathers", along with the beak and eyes, which were made from felt. I cut feet from felt and tied them on with yellow ribbon.
