I made this costume using an old Simplicity pattern and changing the design and pattern to look more like the dress Audrey Hepburn wore in the musical My Fair Lady. I used satin and lace for the dress and added black and white satin for the bows and inserts. I made the wide brimmed hat using satin, lace and netting and added silk flowers, boas and a big black and white satin bow to match the two bows on the dress. I purchased a white parasol, lace gloves, black and white vintage earrings and white vintage boots. I made and wore this costume for my 4-H fashion review and won 2nd runner up at the Indiana State Fair.

Your costume is beautiful! I see in your description the fabrics, etc. used to make the hat, but what did you use as the "form" to create the shape, and the piece to hold it on your head?
How long did it take you to make everything. Did you use a regular sewing machine or a serger?
This costume is wonderful, it brings back memories of old movies I used to watch as a child..loving that hat it sets off the outfit. Happy Sewing!
Magnificent! You should have won first! You look ready got Ascot..happy to hear 4-h is still glowing strong. Congratulations and keep sewing!
