Flynn Rider and Rapunzel from Tangled
This year, my family got the opportunity to attend the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party in Walt Disney World. We knew we had to do something Disney themed, and Tangled fit perfectly, I have yard-long hair and my husband has pretty much the same personality as Flynn.
For Flynn, I made the shirt, pouch, and vest. The vest took the longest of everything, about 200 hours, because it is composed of 117 strips of material!
For Rapunzel, I made everything. The skirt and petticoat were made from scratch with no pattern, and hand painted. The top is a conglomeration of three different patterns, and the lower sleeves are made from tights.
I did all of this in two months--we only found out we were going in August! I also made my sister's Belle costume (not pictured). We had to do this all on a tight budget, I spent less than $75 on all three costumes.
I do a lot of costume work for my friends and family (mostly for free), and I have a 15-year-old highly tempermental serger that actually died on me half way through Rapunzel's costume. If I had a nicer serger, it would help me acheive my goal of doing what I love professionally!
