Silk Dupioni Dress

Threads is SUCH a good influence!  My passion is for children’s wear embellished with among other things, embroidery and loads of handwork (my machine still terrifies me) like hemming and attaching the entredeux to the lace by hand.

Here is one such creation – a silk dupioni dress with tucks, ruched accents, bows, French silk lace, fully lined bodice, silk organza underskirt, and hand crafted bar-tacks for the ‘sash’ of silk-satin ribbon  (not that all were initially intended .. but ‘mistakes’ have to be handled somewhow).  But .. the one thing that was part of the original design was the silk organza collar that I embroidered to mimic the lace – it has the lace motif embroidered using shadow work and surface embroidery of running stitch.

The dress pattern I used is a conglomeration of various patterns  – modified for one thing or another.
