We’re giving a way a copy in honor of Gretchen’s interview in the upcoming Fall 2013 SewStylish issue (on newsstands in early August).
WHAT’S INSIDE THE BOOK
This book includes the steps to sewing retro fashions, prepping tools, machines, and fabric, essential techniques, stabilizing and tailoring, patternmaking, and fitting.
The looks featured in this book are inspired by vintage fashion and Gertie’s spirited, modern style. Also included is a pattern collection of 25 wardrobe essentials, lessons on couture techniques, and pattern customization.

I found Gretchen's blog a couple of years ago and I've been following it since then - it's great! I watch It's Sew Easy as well and last night an episode was on with Gretchen demo-ing a seam finish when working with sheer fabrics. That episode was on just in time for me - I'm getting ready to start on a summer tunic that will be made with sheer fabrics. I would love to win her book!
I would love to win this book! I got a dress form for Christmas, but I haven't used it yet. I'm want to sew myself a dress so badly, but haven't been able to get over that ugly fear yet. I know so many of the questions I have are in her book, SO my fingers are crossed! Thanks for the giveaway!!

I am a vintage woman returning to sewing now that I am retired. It's so lovely to see younger women who appreciate the wonderful stitching and shaping techniques of the 40's,50's and 60's. And the silliness of the 70's. I remember playing dress up in my mother' party dresses from the 40's as a child. And now the dresses of my youth are vintage. How fast the time goes.
