How to Design Custom T Shirts with a Little Help

How do you customise a t shirt? If you want to print ‘I love you mom’ on the tee, you may do it at home with a little effort. However, this may not create the look and feel you want. Moreover, this would not be of any use if you need to personalise 100 t shirts. To do this, you need to find a t shirt printing company.

Here is a look at the method in which you can create one or more custom-made tees.

Step1: Choose the t shirt. The first step in the process is to select the basic tee. You need to decide the size, style and colour of the piece that would fit your purpose. Who would wear them? When and where would they wear them? What is their purpose? Answers to these questions would help you find the right t shirts.

Natural fabrics such as cotton and jute are all the rage nowadays. You can opt for tees made from good quality natural materials to customise. Also, keep in mind that colourful designs look good against a neutral background. If your design is vibrant, choose a simple white or black tee to personalise.

Step 2: Choose the design. The next task is to determine what to print on t shirts. This can be a single image or a combination of an image and text. This can be a special message if the tee is for an occasion or the logo of your company if it is for promotion. The purpose of the t shirt determines the design on it.

You have two choices – you may choose a design from the artwork library available from the t shirt printing companies or you may provide them your own artwork. If you choose the latter, make sure you stick to the guidelines of the company; otherwise, the product may not be up to the mark. You may also ask for advice from the graphic artists at the company.

Step 3: Choose the volume. You may need 5 t shirts for a friend’s bachelor party or 500 for a company’s promotional event. The volume of the order is determined by your purpose and your need. However, you need to decide about it before you begin to customise the t shirts to make sure your order specifications are complete.

Keep in mind, some printing companies offer you the option to personalise tees of different sizes and styles at once, others may not provide this option. To do this, you may have to order the different products separately. Check out whether this option is available from them beforehand.

Step 4: Ask for the price quote. After you have decided about the tee, the design and volume, you can ask the t shirt printers for a price quote. Make sure you mention any special point you may have, as this may affect the cost. For example, if you need the order to be completed immediately, this may increase the charges.

Some printing companies offer instant price quotes online. Others may take some time to send you a quote via email. It is best to check what the quote includes. If the company quotes a low price initially and later adds other charges to it, you may have to pay more than what you had bargained for.

Step 5: Place your order. If the price seems appropriate, you may order the printed t shirts from them. Make sure they get your approval for the design before they start to print the tees. After the personalisation of the t shirts is complete, the company would ship and deliver the goods directly to you.

Before you order the t shirts, keep in mind that a return or refund is often not possible as the company has your approval to print the tees. It is your responsibility to ensure the right look. It is, therefore, important to check every aspect of the t shirts you have personalised before you order them.
