60th Birthday outfit

Hat - Vogue 8405, Dress McCalls 6698, Shrug Simplicity 1819

I bought this jacquard fabric from Regency Rags off eBay and thought it would be great to have both sides showing in the dress McCalls 6698 – hence the middle flounce is the reversible side and you can see the reversible side at the back of the lower skirt.  I did a flat fell seam on the lower skirt so it would look neater and not be so noticeable when looking at the inside of the skirt.

I made my own bias binding for the sleeves to give it a touch of the reversible side of the fabric.

The hat is V8405 which I had made before but this time for some reason it was too tight.  I started to rip it apart at the back seam and then got the idea to keep it like that, add binding and a yoyo flower at the back and voila it works!!

And the final addition was the shrug made with Simplicity pattern S1819.

I felt like Lady Ascot and the outfit made my day fabulous.  Thank goodness for sewing – I love it.
