2013 Prom Dress

My daughter usually buys her own school dance dresses, so when she asked me to make her prom dress I was thrilled.  She picked Vogue 2890 and had her heart set on a deep teal color. The chiffon was purchased locally but the matching lining had to be mail ordered and we chose a stretch silk rather than what the pattern called for. The smallest size of this pattern is size 8 and Kiana needed about 6″+ taken out to fit her properly.  This Mom insisted on zero wardrobe malfunctions and the bodice had to fit perfectly with no shifting or slipping!  The pieces were redrafted to average out the curves for better fit, a few extra boning casings were added, and the train on the skirt was eliminated for practicality.  The flowers were fun to make and the dress came out very pretty.  She felt fabulous and has signed me up for next year already.
