The mother-of-the-groom (yes, the groom!) approached me about making a veil for her son’s fiance from her wedding veil. She had been married in 1986 and had a chapel length, double tier, Radiance style veil with soutache trim along the edge (see attached photo of original veil.)
Her future daughter-in-law wanted a shorter waist or fingertip legnth veil that would maintain the floral soutache trim. She also wanted to add some pearls to the veil.
I was able to cut the new veil from the lower end of the chapel tier. I folded the veil along the center line and cut straight across the veil from edge to edge at a point that worked well with the existing floral trim. Somewhat surprisingly, the lower edge of the chapel length veil was decidedly angled up from the center line. Given this angle, the resulting shorter veil ended up being a Sunbeam style veil as shown in the attached photo. I hand stitched Czech glass based pearls within the floral soutache trim and then gathered and hand stitched to the veil to a comb.
My client and her future daughter-in-law were thrilled with the veil! Another fun project!

I like the embroidery work on this dress. Really appreciable.
